I received the First Articles of the Winder Assembly from PCBway
Переглядів 2,3 тис.16 годин тому
I ordered a bunch of parts from PCBway the other day. I reordered enough of the printed parts for the fingers that I could have an as printed and refined group of components so I could show the amount of work that is going to be required to assemble the fingers into an operable assembly. I also ordered machined first articles of the winder assembly. the parts showed up near perfect! The only wo...

New Cartoid Latch Explained and Demonstrated!

In this video I clarify the operation of the Cartoid Latching mechanism for the ring and pinky fingers and talk about they would function out in the wild. sure, the end points aren't in the correct positions, but I finally have the geometry correct so that the double eccentric can be adjusted for different hand sizes and the latch will still operate as intended. that is huge and necessary if I'...

A rep from the brand QIDI recently contacted me about taking a look at their new printer the Q1 Pro. Here is my experience using the machine. I used it to print a bunch of cable management brackets as well as the shell of my forearm that i made the plaster buck in. I mostly print in Abs and this printer worked well right out of the box. Cosplay Armor or Prosthetic Socket Fabrication using 3d Scanner, Printer, and Seal a Meal!

Since I'm so close upgrading my partial Hand prosthetic device from the AFT to the new AFL version, I need to build new socket interfaces. Using my Creality ferret pro scanner and K1 printer, I scanned my forearm and printed an ABS shell that I used to cast a plaster positive that I could use as a form for vacuum resin lamination. I scanned my forearm using my rotary mount and ferret pro 3d sca...

New Hardware from PCBWay for my Diy Partial Hand Prosthetic!
Переглядів 27 тис.6 місяців тому
PCBWay Printed me a set of parts to build a new version of my prosthetic in mag aluminum. the parts are so much lighter than the stainless and Pa-12 parts that ive been using for the last little bit. the parts came out great! and I think that this is how I am going to be able to offer this device in a kit format. I was very impressed with the price that the set of parts ended up totaling, super...

Progress Update on 3d Printed Prosthetic Hand
I make these for my small buisness, they definitely stand out from regular cardstock!
Mr. Ian... I saw elsewhere in the comments where someone is interested in trying to scale this sort of technology down to possibly fit a child. But they noticed, that the size of the chains would become a complication at smaller scales. Would it be possible to implement cables, like either bicycle brake cables or nylon cables, instead of the chains, to help reduce the size and weight?
Cool, but cut a couple sections out of the entire bed and make 3 or 4 of those sections so you can load those up while it's printing others, then just swap out the whole section. If you did it right, you could swap out one section while it's printing the other and vice versa.
Man he is flexing how boring and un cool our flesh hands are with his super cool bionic hand 😢
Ha ha Ian no one like warp or burn 🤔 🎉❤
I feel happy that people like you exist, you never give up.
very cool, imho a different font would fit the aesthetic a bit better
Definitely, I only made 50 or so of these cards. This is totally a work in progress, I just needed something to hand out that would link to my socials.
🤘at the end
What feeds and speeds did you end up using? You've inspired me to engrave a set of playing cards with this method, a jump start would be appreciated!
Metal playing cards would be sick! It would totally work! Hit me up on insta or discord and I'll get you that info.
Looks awesome Ian. I have tried a few of these with my xTool s1 and love the effect but haven’t figured out a way to ensure the rest of the paint doesn’t rub off after handing them out. Coming back to ERRF?
I would like to, all depends on who I'm working with and if they have a booth there. Last year I was with creality.
@@missingpartsclub cool sir. Hope to see you again. Still want to talk to you about sponsorships. My life got derailed immediately after ERRF with parent care issues that are no longer taking up my attention. Will hopefully catch you there
It was so nice to see you at Opensauce again!
It was an awesome event this year! It was so cool seeing everyone that returned from the year prior. I'll probably be attending with pcbway again although I would like to attend the creator party. So I have to figure that part out.
Dang, I want one of those cards! I am a business card collector (not really), And this is one of the unique cards I am looking for.
Pretty sharp!
I did the same thing for a Maker Faire earlier this year. People were surprised I was just giving them away - they thought they were super expensive.
Time wise they are a little pricey, but actual cost wise, it's about $0.14/card.
He needs to go the slap competition. 😈

Always love learning something new
Clever to have positive stop controls. Might be marginally faster to use plywood backer thick enough for shallow card shaped recesses, along w/the finger hole for faster swap. I don't think the cards would move, tho the headrig motor reversal might shake the cards enough for an issue
Cool !( make every finger 9 mm gun)
yes
What a master
Cool!
I thought it was a fire control group from the thumbnail
I like that you call it a device. This is a machine with continuing possibilities for evolution. And kinetic power only! And now we're evolving this machine into a template for all to get new Parts for themselves? YOU sir are a service to all mankind.
Philadelphia
Is there a limited size range your hand design is feasible for?
Good question I know a little kid that is missing all four digits
Afik he's already using the smallest size of roller chain you can easily buy and that is a big limit on the minimum size for the current parts. Watch makers might have some smaller chain?
I think the coolest part of your project is that it isn't trying to look like some 2150s cyber hand. It reminds me of John silvers hand from Disney's treasure planet. Minus the ability to swap between a hand and a sword and other odd mechanizations. Keep up the great work friend.
I could see swapping between fingers and a screwdriver being useful for a machinist, instead of the sword though
@@vertitron while that would be awesome, just having a hex bit in the pointer finger so you could stick driver bits in it. I feel like the torque would be really hard on the pivot points. It would be even more hilarious having a bandolier of interchangeable fingers slung over your shoulder.
@@john050994he has demonstrated a hot swap tool connector
Singlehandedly (no pun intended) giving people the best prosthetic hand
Oh what you were at opensauce???? Nice!
Always great to see your updates and progress. Thank you!
Ian yo have gone a very long way and the best part is that your still going keep up the good hard work
yet another ian davis video. bless this man
The current hand is mind blowing. Watching it react to your gestures is mind-blowing. I wouldn't have imagined that when the channel started
You are william afton now.
2040: "From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me..."
THIS IS SO COOL AGGGGHHHHHH
One of my teacher had hands with three fingers only. Like the ninja turtles. And they were perfectly functional and had no difformity.
Amazing
Have you ever watched the show violet evergarden? I've seen your progress in bit and pieces on the internet and every time I see it I think about her arms. I'm sure having a whole arm be mechanical is a bit of tv magic but I just find them so amazing especially when they show her doing maintenance on them or breaking them.
Make a swiss army knife into a finger.
I like to buy my one for my handicapped son. How can I contact you sir
The only hostel I've stayed at was when I was bikepacking around Mitchell Or. And it definitely was an experience.
Bro, im just happy you're making progress
It is impressive but nothing cn replace natural 😢
This is incredible, my mind is blown. So many people would benefit from this, hope you become a millionaire off your work
Thanks for sharing how the mechanics work. Ingenious.
That is one of the coolest hands I've seen. If I had the spare cash, I'd love to fund people like you to mass produce these types of things for people who want them. Also to donate to kids. Kids who lose limbs deserve awesome looking replacements.
How do we get the files?
I feel i could fix this with some comfortable leather.
3.7k idiot! who dislike this! it's awsome
Replace that with carbon fiber!
